Scott Emerson     acornPresident

Mr. Emerson’s roles have included senior management positions and directorships. Scott brings a background in finance, business development, strategic planning and corporate restructuring to our team. An active member of the board for 10 years, Scott has been President of the organization since 2011. During this time, he has worked closely with Westminster House to double its client capacity, expand its programs and to ensure affordable treatment and a home-like environment is delivered to all clients.

Ron Argue   acornVice-President

Ron sits as Vice President of the Julien House Society Board of Directors.  He has over 35 years’ experience in primarily a solicitor’s practice providing effective and efficient legal services in many areas including wills and estates, commercial contracts, real estate, lending and corporate matters. He has been involved in numerous community board of and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Ron’s is prompt, responsive and practical.  He provides sound advice and is highly personable.  Ron’s keen insight enables him to focus on the issues in order to deliver the results needed, he brings the legal support needed to the board of directors of Julien House Society.

Mary Broadland   acornDirector

Ms Broadland comes to our board with over 30 years of advertising and marketing experience.
Mary joined the board in 2014 and complements the other board members experience in the addiction recovery field with a strategic planning, business and communications perspective. Ms Broadland believes whole-heartedly that Women do recover and is a strong supporter of the caring, talented staff at Westminster House and the women they help survive every day.

Marie Murray acornSecretary/Treasurer

Ms. Murray has a background in office administration and accounting. She joined the board in 2010,
and has been Secretary/Treasurer of the organization for five years. She has been involved with peer counselling and community skills counselling, as well as facilitating a parents’ support group for parents of addicted loved ones. Marie firmly believes in affordable addiction treatment in a nurturing, supportive environment.


Michelle Mix  acornDirector

When families are dealing with a loved one struggling with addiction their lives are filled with chaos and heartache. This is where Michelle’s passions are – reaching out to those families and walking alongside as they heal.  Michelle has been involved with Westminster House for over 3 years and is an enthusiastic supporter of the Family Group meetings.

Michelle has enjoyed a rewarding career, served on various boards and after a brief “retirement” has recently joined her husband’s business in the investment & insurance industry.

About being elected to the Board of Directors: “I’ve received so much from Westminster House, I’m grateful to have this opportunity to give back and hope to make a positive impact.”

Jill Toews  acornDirector

Jill has three university degrees, and practiced dentistry 34 years, before relocating to New Westminster.  Jill has been on Boards at work and in the community and describes herself as a I am a team player. Jill currently serve as secretary for B.C. Region Nar-Anon and as a Member of the World Service Organization literature committee for Nar-Anon.

Kathryn George  acornPast Director

Ms. George has remained an active member of the Westminster House board of directors for almost 10 years. She brings extensive experience as an Addiction Counsellor on the DTES of Vancouver, and a working knowledge with regards to violence prevention, risk assessment, program development; as well as the particular challenges around working in the field of addictions, trauma and mental health. Ms. George shares her passion for ensuring affordable addiction treatment remains a reality for women in a community based setting.
